Annual Parish Retreat to Holy Cross

This is a traditional weekend retreat, often led by one of the monks, with plenty of time for individual reflection and prayer. Holy Cross Monastery is an Episcopal Benedictine community located on the west bank of the Hudson River in upstate New York. While not close by, we make the annual journey there for the warmth and good cheer of the monks’ hospitality, the power of their prayer, and for the remarkable beauty of the Hudson River valley. Silence is kept from 9 pm Friday night through breakfast on Sunday morning — not to add a layer of discomfort, but to assure that retreatants have time for themselves. Over the years, these weekends have looked at the role of work in our lives, music, meditation, rest and sabbath, the psalms, and other topics. Retreats begin Friday evening and end Sunday after the midday meal. We usually arrange carpools for those who wish to drive up.

Next Retreat: Nov. 9-11, 2007 (led by Janet Vincent)
