20s & 30s

Parishioners, friends and students who are (loosely) in their 20s & 30s come together for fellowship in faith. Newcomers are always welcome. Coming from a range of backgrounds, members of the group are single, married and married with children. You can find a wonderful community in this group by engaging in its exciting mixture of social, spiritual and service activities. Don't hesitate to see what we're up to. We'd love to meet you. Information on joining our email list is at the bottom of this page.

We present an array of activities to suit any interest. Recent events include:

  • Our annual silent retreat at Holy Cross Monastery in relaxing, reflection–friendly West Park, NY
  • Day hikes on the local Potomac Heritage Trail and further afield in Harper's Ferry, WV; Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland; and other scenic local areas
  • Christmas caroling and Twelfth Night celebration.
  • Day hikes at Harper's Ferry, WV, Catoctin Mountain Park, MD, and other scenic local areas.
  • Monthly brunches and dinners
  • Service projects throughout the year, with groups like Rebuilding Together with Christmas In April, an annual project to fix up need–worthy houses in DC; Hands On DC, a project to fix up DC Public Schools; and Loaves and Fishes, providing meals for those who need them
  • Weekly Bible study
  • Discussion groups and lectures on a variety of social and spiritual topics.

A great way to meet folks in the group and find out about the latest activities is to attend one of our brunches. Just food and fun — if you're curious, don't be shy, come on out with us. Brunches are occasionally held after the 11:15 am service. We meet near the quilt in the Common and walk or carpool to a local restaurant. Check the Sunday wrapper for details.

Several events are in the works for this year. Details are listed in St. Columba’s Newsletter and Sunday wrappers. Also, there is a listserv that periodically mails out these details.

If you would like to subscribe to our list, send an email to our List Manager with 'subscribe 20sand30s' as the message body. Do not write anything else in the message body. You should receive confirmation shortly thereafter. If you have any problems or questions, contact Alia Williams.

The 20s & 30s group has a Steering Committee that organizes events and performs outreach. Participation is open to all interested 20s/30s. Please contact the committee with any questions or suggestions for activities by email. We welcome your comments, ideas and participation in planning events.
