Second Quarter (20s/30s/40s)

Second Quarter is comprised of St. Columba parishioners, friends and students in (approximately) the second quarter of life. Coming from a range of backgrounds and interests, members of the group are single, married and partnered, with and without children, and are engaged in an exciting mixture of fellowship, spiritual and service activities. Currently, we meet semi-regularly after the 11:15 service in Room 220 and have a Fellowship Brunch on the second Sunday of every month, in addition to other activities.

We present an array of activities to suit any interest. Past events include:

  • Our annual silent retreat at Holy Cross Monastery in relaxing, reflection–friendly West Park, NY
  • Day hikes on the local Potomac Heritage Trail and further afield in Harper's Ferry, WV; Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland; and other scenic local areas
  • Christmas caroling and Twelfth Night celebration.
  • Day hikes at Harper's Ferry, WV, Catoctin Mountain Park, MD, and other scenic local areas.
  • Monthly brunches and dinners
  • Service projects throughout the year, with groups like Rebuilding Together with Christmas In April, an annual project to fix up need–worthy houses in DC; Hands On DC, a project to fix up DC Public Schools; and Loaves and Fishes, providing meals for those who need them
  • Weekly Bible study
  • Discussion groups and lectures on a variety of social and spiritual topics.

Several events are in the works for this year. Details are listed in St. Columba’s Newsletter and Sunday wrappers.
