Nights of Columba
Who are the Nights of Columba? Nights of Columba is a ministry of welcome and watching. The Nights make sure that visitors parishioners and nonparishioners alike are welcomed to the church, and that the church is secure in the evening. What does a Night do? Once every six weeks, on a regularly scheduled weekday evening, one of us sits at the desk at the second floor Albemarle Street entrance. The Night welcomes guests and, as needed, answers questions and gives directions. The Night also makes a check of the Church to make sure that all doors and windows that are supposed to be secured are secured. Why should I become a Night? Being a Night is easy and enjoyable. It gives you a chance to spend a quiet evening greeting old friends; making new ones; and in between, working, reading, writing, meditating, praying, day dreaming or doing anything else you might feel like doing sitting at a desk. Most important, it gives you a chance, as a minister of St. Columba's, to welcome people to St. Columba's, and to take care of the church that takes care of us. If youre here some weekday evening for any of our many activities, please come say hello. Were here to help! Contact: Chris Schumann |
