Katrina Response Mission Group

damaged houseWe’ve accepted a long-term mission to help people affected by Hurricane Katrina. Meet with other St. Columba’s parishioners to discuss how we can offer support and hope, both now and in the long run.

HOW ARE WE HELPING?

Partner Parish: Church of the Annunciation
After donations to Camp Coast Care, the Red Cross, and Episcopal Relief and Development, we have found an ideal partner in New Orleans’ Broadmoor District: the lively and action-oriented people of The Free Church of the Annunciation (Episcopal). With 8 mission trips behind us, your fellow parishioners have gutted flood-ravaged homes, provided first-line emergency supplies, offered willing ears and shoulders, and re-landscaped the property in front of the Church of the Annunciation so that their flower guild can harvest materials for the altar and passers-by will be attracted to join their parish family and find the recovery they need.

Future mission trips include work on their parish library and the neighborhood library, work to help establish a neighborhood charter school, assemble a neighborhood playground, and help them to build a community center building.

WHAT CAN I DO?
