Help the Homeless Miniwalk and Walkathon

St. Columba's parishioners join to help the homeless and others in need by registering for, contributing to and walking in the parish miniwalk. Funds that are raised by registered walkers and other contributors, as well as additional funding from the Fannie Mae Foundation, go directly to St. Columba's outreach ministries including:

What’s involved?

The miniwalk is actually a series of short walks, one after every Sunday service, that takes place on one day in Fall. Simply join the group exiting the church after service to walk around the block (Albemarle Street down to 43rd Street, over to Butterworth Place, up to 42nd Street and back to the church entrance). All walkers are asked to register so that we may qualify for matching funding from Fannie Mae. This short, easy walk around the block is a good event for all our parishioners, young or old.

Besides joining our miniwalk around the church, parishioners also have the option of joining the annual Help the Homeless Walkathon, held annually on the National Mall.

Participating in this larger event also benefits St. Columba's outreach ministries — as long as when you register for the Walkathon, you designate St. Columba's Homeless Ministries (code: SCHM) as the beneficiary organization. Otherwise they won't know who you're walking for!

To register for the Help the Homeless Walkathon, follow this direct link to St. C’s walkathon page to pre-register online by Friday, November 16, 2007 at 5 pm. Or, you can register the morning of the event (make sure that “SCHM” is your beneficiary organization).
