St. Columba’s Summer Day Camp
“Around the World in 30 Days” —
A summer of play experiences for children 3 to 8 years old!
We will be circling the globe to find adventure in other cultures, celebrations, creatures and fascinating places. We will appreciate the diversity and beauty of the world through nature study, music, art and literature.
We will continue the old favorites that make St. Columba’s a throwback to the camps of our youth: sing–alongs, Water Field Day, picnics, cooking, plus our visiting artists program. In past years we have had exotic animal shows, musicians, dancers, storytellers from far and near, magicians and more!
Our 7– and 8–year–old group will extend their exploration of the world with weekly field trips by Metro or bus to museums and other sights around this exciting town.

Counselors In Training
We offer a limited number of 12– and 13–year–olds the opportunity to work with young children, receive training from our professional staff and head counselor, and earn a certificate helpful for future job applications. The cost for this training opportunity is $400.
Our Philosophy
St. Columba’s Day Camp provides an opportunity for children to interact as members of a group in a non–competitive atmosphere. Through a balance of adult–directed activities and child–initiated play, children are encouraged to play cooperatively, to learn about their world and to appreciate the wonderful diversity and common threads of life.
The camp offers recreational activities to children of all faiths, without regard to race, color or national origin.

9 am to 3 pm for 4– to 8–year–olds

Six counselors, plus music and art teachers; seven aides
Lunch
Children (4–8 years) bring lunches that will be refrigerated. A light mid–morning snack is provided.
Tuition rates for 2008 (includes deposit)
- 4– to 8–year–olds
$1,325 for both sessions
$750 for one session*
- 3–year–olds
$800 for both sessions
$450 for one session*
Applications are available from St. Columba’s parish office and at the Welcome/Information Table in the Common. A deposit, made out to St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, is due with the application. The remainder is due March 1. Deposits are returned only if there is no space available.

The Summer Day Camp at St. Columba’s was founded by the Vestry of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church. The policy–making body is a Board of Governors responsible to the Vestry.
