St. Columba’s Nursery School:
Admissions

Application to the Nursery School is made in January and February of the year preceeding a child's enrollment in September. Children who turn 3 or 4 by October 31 are eligible for enrollment.

To obtain an application, parents must attend one of three Admission Seminars scheduled from 9:30 to 11:00 am on January 28, February 3, and February 5, 2009 and held in the Great Hall of the Church. No reservation is necessary for these events. At the Seminars the Director explains the school’s philosophy and describes the types of learning experiences that the students enjoy in both the three- and four-year-old programs. She also answers questions and leads a tour of the school. A non-refundable application fee of $50 is required.

There are no interviews and no testing of children prior to admission. We accept children as they are, knowing we can fit the curriculum to meet their needs. Children applying as special needs candidates are asked to come with a parent for a brief playdate so that we can be sure our program can fully meet their needs.

St. Columba’s has an open admission policy and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, culture, ethnic origin, family composition, economic status, or physical ability. Priority status is given to parish members in good standing, siblings, children of alumni, and the families in our immediate neighborhood. Some spaces are also reserved for children with special needs.
