Associate Rector for Worship and Outreach
The Rev. Dr. Kate Heichler came to St. Columba's in August, 2016 from Stamford CT, where she served as pastor at Church of Christ the Healer and executive director of the Interfaith Council of SW CT. Kate's ministry passions include vibrant worship, evangelism, healing and community engagement. She writes a daily spiritual reflection on Sunday's gospel called Water Daily (click here if you want to receive it by email).
Kate is active in gun violence prevention work, as well as ministries among people who are homeless, and efforts to end homelessness. She has long been involved in global missions and helped start the Nambale Magnet School in Kenya for children orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV-AIDS. She has written and taught on healing and alternative worship.
Kate is a writer, speaker, retreat leader and in earlier life, a playwright. She holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Hartford Seminary, MDiv and STM degrees from Yale Divinity School and a BFA from NYU. The daughter of a Foreign Service officer, she grew up all over the world, and was happy to return to DC, where she was born. She joins the clergy and laity of St. Columba's in discerning just what God is up to in our lives and communities, and how we are being invited to participate in God's mission through the Holy Spirit.
