“New to You” Yard Sale

St. Columba’s "New To You" yard and book sale is our annual fundraising and community-building initiative. Join the fun!

Sale hours

Thurs., May 14 (6-8 pm) Preview sale for parishioners, staff and nursery school families only

Fri., May 15 (11 am-7 pm) Open to the public

Sat., May 16 (8 am–2 pm) Open to the public

This sale is "cash only," and we encourage you to bring your own bags.

On Saturday, you will also have the opportunity to purchase items from the Community Craft Collective, a group of women who have experienced homelessness and have joined together with a broader community, building a creative outlet to experience healing. The artisans will be selling jewelry, knitted and crocheted goods, artisan cards, painted jewelry boxes and more. Click to download a PDF about the Community Craft Collective.


Storage PODS will be available for donation drop-offs (near the corner of Albemarle and 42nd Street) beginning Sat., May 9 (10 am-4 pm). There is a STRONG likelihood that the PODS will fill up on Saturday afternoon before 3 pm. Please check the church website before bringing your items to St. Columba’s. As you know we do not have storage on site. Once the PODS are filled, WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY MORE DONATIONS until Mon., May 11 at 9:30 am.

Donations will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED after 12 noon on Wednesday as we must sort and price items for the pre-sale which begins on Thurs., May 14 at 6 pm.

Volunteer an hour or two—or more

We need lots of volunteers before, during or after the sale. Please sign up to help us the week before the sale to unload items collected in the portable storage units (located temporarily on 42nd Street), and sort and price items. We also need help during the event to staff cash registers, sell and serve refreshments or clean up at the sale's end. Daytime and evening hours are available.

Donate new or nearly new items

New or gently used clothes, toys, tools, housewares, sporting goods, furniture, collectibles, books, etc., are all needed! Higher-quality items are also welcome for our "upscale boutique" featuring designer clothing, jewelry and other goods of greater value. Receipts are available for donated goods. See above for drop-off times.

We cannot accept electronics of any kind (except working lamps), car seats (boosters are okay) or cribs. If you would like to donate a large piece of furniture, please take a picture of the item and email it with the price to organizers Courtney Hundley and Elizabeth Rankin ( Pictures will be displayed on a bulletin board during the sale, and buyer and seller can arrange a mutually convenient time for pickup.

This is one of the few fundraising and community-building activities identified by the vestry that supports our worship, youth, music and outreach activities. The St. C’s communications department is implementing a new procedure for submitting publicity requests, to streamline the speed, accuracy and effort required to produce our weekly publications. The new online publicity request form  is easy to fill out and will provide us with all the necessary information we need to process your request.

Photo Policy

It is our policy to publish in our newsletters and on our website photographs of parishioners engaged in church activities, as a way of showing the life and spirit of this parish. We are sensitive to privacy concerns and do not name people in photographs except in rare instances and only with prior permission from the individuals pictured.
