St. Columba's Episcopal Church

Date: May 18, 2017

Shazam may not be a proper theological term, but shazam is what we’ll experience at St. Columba’s on the Day of Pentecost – June 4.

Wear red that day because Pentecost is all about the fiery power of the Holy Spirit. Wear red in honor of the bishop’s visit; the bishop is a symbol of our connectedness with the universal church. Wear red in spiritual solidarity with the 33 members of this congregation who will be baptized or confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church on that day – yes, 33! Wear red as the dazzling light of the Spirit bursts forth through your life.

Our bishop, the Right Rev. Mariann Budde, is very good at what she does but she’s not able to be in more than one place at once. Bishop Budde will preside and preach at the 8 am service, the 9:15 am service in the Great Hall, and the 11:15 am service in the Nave – when she will also confirm and receive. She will also lead the Forum at 10:15 am. Holy Baptism and Eucharist will be celebrated at the 9 am service in the Nave, and the Eucharist will be celebrated at 11:15 am in the Great Hall.
