St. Columba's Episcopal Church

New Music Director Search

Date: January 5, 2017

With John Hurd’s pending retirement (effective Columba Day, June 11, 2017), Rector Ledlie Laughlin is convening a search committee for our next music director to be led by co-chairs Rick Dulaney and Meg Spencer Dixon, with clergy support from Kate Heichler. Six or seven parishioners are needed to serve on this committee.

Click here to nominate yourself or another parishioner. Names must be received by Sun., Jan. 15 at noon. Committee members may be asked to meet weekly.

The scope and time frame of this task is ambitious: to build from our strengths and assess our current music program; to define the position description for our future music director; and to review and select the best candidate among many applicants. Ideally, we would like to extend an invitation to our new music director to join us in early summer 2017.

The music in our worship and the leadership of our choirs are among the most vital of St. Columba’s ministries. We are eager to call a gifted church musician to lead us into the future. Please hold this search and our parish in your prayers.
