St. Columba's Episcopal Church

March 2017 Newsletter

March Newsletter  Thinking of writing a spiritual autobiography this Lent? In his opening article, the Rev. Ledlie Laughlin suggests taking the "stepping stone" approach, choosing ten or twelve significant moments: events, experiences, turning-points, personal discoveries, even set-backs and reflecting on these in your stream of life. In all our articles this month, we focus on daily practices in our Lenten Journey.

Other articles include:

- In “Worship in Lent,” the Rev. Kate Heichler outlines how we will step out of our normal worship routines in order to draw closer to the reality of God in our lives this Lenten season;

- In “Try Morning Prayer This Lent,” Susan Elliott invites us all to join the morning prayer service: ringing the bell, that ancient call to prayer, and falling into a rhythm of reciting the psalms and offering prayers for our neighbors;

- In “Lent, A Time to be Green,” the St. C's Environment committee, offers a rundown of different approaches we can be take to be called to caring for God’s creation, and includes a Lenten calendar to follow day-by-day;

- “Service to Justice: Transforming Systems” by the Rev. Kate Heichler, describes a new strategy for outreach ministries and an upcoming workshop that will help us follow this new path;

- In “Thanksgivings,” we welcome David Griswold to St. Columba’s as our new deacon intern.

Plus! other monthly offerings of Calendar, Announcements, Transitions, Vestry Notes and The Columba Diary.
