At St. Columba’s Nursery School, we believe that each child, each family, and each staff member has an infinite capacity to learn and grow. We cultivate their God-given and unique abilities in a joyful atmosphere of supported inquiry, sociability, and inclusion.
The Nursery School will open at 10 am Tuesday, March 4th, as DCPS has announced a 2-hour delay. The rest of the day will operate under the normal schedule with usual dismissal times. We will do our utmost to follow DCPS, but please watch for further information, as the Nursery School sometimes has to close even when DCPS remains open. STAY TUNED.
To make an application for our 2014-2015 school year, please come to one of our open houses. Admission open houses will be begin at 9:30 am and are held in the Great Hall of St. Columba’s Church. The dates for this year’s open houses are:

February 5 and 21, 2014
A father recently told me that his son asks each day, “Is it a school day or a home day?” Monday through Friday he leaps into his clothes when he hears “school day” but on Saturday, it’s nothing but disappointment. He’d like St. Columba’s to be open seven days a week.
What makes St. Columba’s Nursery School such a special place for children? One factor is that we strive to make children’s needs and growth central to every facet of our program beginning with teacher visits to every home to meet the children before school begins. Another important factor is that we accept children as they are - from their admission (no interviews, no testing and no screening) to their first days at school when we work exceptionally hard to know and understand everything about them. Our wonderful teachers, rich program, and exceptional outdoor space help our students develop the skills and abilities they need to become independent, motivated learners and caring members of their school community.
I invite you to learn more about St.Columba’s Nursery School in these pages or at an Admission Open House. We’d love to welcome you into our school family.
