New in 2015, the music department created an organ scholar program. The purpose of the program is to encourage pianists to explore organ study. This is in response to a nation-wide shortage of organ students (in 2014 there were only 187 undergraduate organ majors in the entire USA).

St. Columba’s is blessed with a wonderful organ, two energetic staff organists, parishioners who play and study organ, many organ enthusiasts and a wonderfully supportive and music-loving congregation, so an organ scholar program was a natural outgrowth of this rich musical environment.

Past St. Columba Organ Scholars include:
2015 - Anders Brodnax
2016 - Sophie Ewing
2017 - Norbert Fiess
