Flower Guild
After Sunday services, the flowers are rearranged in a number of smaller baskets for delivery to members of congregation to mark the joy of a baby’s birth, to give thanks for a special service to the church, or to offer sympathy and hope when there is illness, crisis or grief. Floral arrangements are done by the Flower Guild, a faithful group of parishioners who bring the beauty of the creation into our worship. Deliveries are then taken parishioners by the Flower Deliverers The Flower Guild is also available to provide flowers for weddings and funerals as a ministry to the congregation. To learn more arrangements for weddings, please contact Lizzie Glidden-Boyle, and for funerals, Bill Riggs. A gift of flowers as a visual prayer commemorating a birthday, wedding, anniversary, memorial or special activity has a long tradition at St. Columba’s. The standard donation for flowers is $50, but a contribution in any amount will help defray costs. It takes three donations to cover the cost of flowers each Sunday. Please send donations to the Flower Guild, c/o St. Columba's Church, 4201 Albemarle Street NW, Washington, DC 20016. Along with your check (payable to St. Columba’s, with Flower Guild in the memo line), please include the Sunday and write who the flowers are given for and for what occasion. You may also print out this short PDF form to send with your payment. If you would like to donate flowers for Easter, please use this Easter Flowers Donation form. Donations must be receive by March 12 to be listed in the Easter bulletins. The Flower Guild welcomes new members. Training is provided and there is an annual education program. Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas are special for the Flower Guild, as all members can participate in the floral decoration of the church for these occasions. Contact: Rose Duncan
