advent service of lessons & carols
In the late afternoon, as winter darkness begins, we gather in the quiet, candlelit church to hear the prophecies and great music of Advent. Based on the traditional service from Kings College, Cambridge, St. Columba’s adds its own touch, with readers of all ages and music by adult and children’s choirs and handbells. The service begins with quiet music from a distance, moving with the processions into the church. The congregation is as much a part of this service as the choirs, and joins in singing the great carols of Advent. Child care is provided for young children. (This service replaces the 5 pm Eucharist.)
Schedule: 5 pm, Church Nave, usually the second Sunday of Advent.
