Contemplative Services with Music

Sung Compline
Like morning and evening prayer, the service of Compline comes to us from monastic practice, where each part of the day us punctuated by prayer. Compline is the closing service of the day, and more than anything, it’s like being kissed goodnight and tucked into bed. You can read it beginning on page 127 in The Book of Common Prayer.

Led by the Compline Choir, Compline is sung on Sunday evenings in Advent and Lent. The church is open at 7:00 pm before the service for silent reflection and prayer. It is a peaceful and beautiful time, a good way to mark the end of the weekend and prepare for the week ahead.

Schedule: 7:30–7:55 pm on Sundays in Advent, Lent and once after Easter

Contemplative Service in the Style of Taizé
We gather in the dimly lit church surrounded by the flickering lights of votive candles for this quiet service of readings from scripture and the writings of Brother Roger of Taizé. The Gallery Choir, accompanied by piano and synthesizer, leads us in singing chants from the Taizé community in France.

Schedule: 7:30–8:15 pm on Sunday, Feb. 24 and April 20, 2008
