Easter Day

Holy week concludes with the greatest feast of the Christian year, the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection. We mark the occasion with unbridled festivity, pulling out all the stops in our liturgy and music.

Music at 8 am is led by the Boy Choir and Girl Choir and includes trumpet and timpani. At 9:30 and 11:15 am, the St. Columba Singers and handbells, brass and timpani offer special music. At 8 am and 9:30 am, children go out for Storytime during the sermon.

Services in the church at 9:30 and 11:15 am are well attended, so we encourage you to arrive a bit early.

There are also two opportunities to attend a brief, simpler Easter celebration geared to preschool children, offered in the Great Hall at 9:30 and 11:15 am. These services tell the Easter gospel story-style and include a few simple Easter songs. Children are invited to bring a flower or flowering branch to help decorate a cross in celebration of the Resurrection.

At 5 pm there is a festival eucharist and baptism in the church nave with a full Easter sermon, hymns, organ and soprano soloist Enid McKitrick.

We hope you can be with us on Easter Day, as we greet one another with those great words of hope: “Alleluia, Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!”

Child care is available for infants through age 4, 7:45 am – 12:30 pm.
