Flower Guild

Every Sunday (except during Lent and Advent), the flowers that decorate our church are crafted by the Flower Guild, a faithful group of parishioners who bring the beauty of Creation into our worship. After services, the flowers are rearranged into smaller baskets for delivery to parishioners to mark the joy of a baby’s birth, to give thanks for a special service to the church or to offer sympathy and hope when there is illness, crisis or grief. The Flower Guild also provides flowers for weddings and funerals as a ministry to the congregation.

Vergers

A verger is a lay person who assists at worship as an ecclesiastical stage manager, if you will. At St. Columba’s, we look to them to lead the procession on Sundays and provide direction during the eucharistic service. The vergers also serve at Christmas, during Holy Week and on other festival occasions.
