The Rev. Jason Cox
Senior Associate Rector - Worship and Outreach
Jason Cox is the associate rector with oversight for Liturgy and Outreach. Prior to working at St. Columba's, Jason directed the Episcopal Urban Intern Program (EUIP, a year-long service and discernment program for young adults) in the Diocese of Los Angeles from 2007-2011.
Jason first came to the Episcopal Church in college, after joining the choir of Christ Church Cathedral in Houston. Singing in the cathedral choir led Jason to focus his studies on church music. Later, Jason served several small parishes in the Diocese of Texas as organist/choirmaster, both as an undergraduate and after completing his music studies.
After college, Jason joined the Episcopal Urban Intern Program (EUIP) in Los Angeles, working with homeless clients in a transitional housing facility on L.A.'s skid row. You can read about Jason's experiences in his article "Serving Skid Row: Urban Mission as Theological Education," published in the Virginia Theological Seminary Journal in 2010. After being ordained by the Diocese of Los Angeles, Jason was appointed director of EUIP. During his tenure, EUIP more than doubled the number of interns and sites served. Jason was also instrumental in founding Episcopal Service Corps, the national network of Episcopal young adult service programs.
