Katie Beaver is a 2nd year student at the Virginia Theological Seminary and a Postulant for Holy Orders in the Diocese of Maryland. She joined the community at St. Columba’s as a seminarian in September 2019. Katie was born and raised in Central Maryland and attended a small Episcopal parish where she is still a member. She studied Government at the College of William & Mary, and subsequently worked in international security analysis for a federal agency. After five years of service, she left to pursue her call to ministry and to serve the people of God. Outside of schoolwork, Katie serves as a coordinator for the intergenerational worship service at VTS and is a teaching assistant in Biblical Hebrew. To develop her passion for pastoral care and theological reflection, Katie spent the summer of 2019 as a chaplain intern for patients at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
