Sunday Child Care
Child care is available for infants and children to age 3 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 pm, every Sunday from early September through early June in Room 322.
Metro: Take the Red Line to the Tenleytown/AU station. Use the west exit, and head south on Wisconsin Avenue. Turn right onto Albemarle Street and walk one block to the church.
Parking: Street parking is easy to find on most days. There is a small church parking located on Butterworth Place, which is available on Sunday mornings and weekday evenings.
Accessibility: On Sundays, there is an accessible drop-off/pick-up area in front of the 42nd Street entrance. There is accessibility from the parking lot (where there are reserved handicapped spaces). Come in through the Nursery School entrance. There is an elevator at the end of that hall.
What to Expect on Sunday mornings
What should I wear? Wear what is comfortable and feels right to you. You will find a range from coats and ties to shorts and flip flops. Most people dress somewhere in the middle.
How will I know what to do in the church service? We’re a church filled with people of all different faith backgrounds (or none at all). There is a printed service bulletin with everything you need to know to follow along and know what to do. There are ushers to guide you into the service and for Communion.
Speaking of communion, who may receive communion? Everyone, without exception, is invited to receive Communion. If you do not wish to receive Communion, you may come forward and simply cross your arms across your chest to receive a blessing.
What about my children? Children are welcome at all services at St. Columba's, and we have specially designed worship for our preschool set in the Great Hall. [link to children's worship] There is also child care available for ages up to 3 years.
