Contemporary Psalm Writing

Contemporary Psalm Writing – Sing to the Lord a New Psalm! Find your inner King David during a Sunday evening writing group. Express your thoughts and prayers through writing with Zoom gatherings of like-minded people. Each session will include reading new and old psalms, loosely structured psalm writing time, as well as time to share writing with others. Try your hand at festal shouts, laments, songs of peace and more. Bring curiosity, openness, enthusiasm and a pen! Gatherings will use art and music to inspire our own psalm prayers. Come for all of them or just drop in when you can. Come alone or with family and friends.

This group will be facilitated by Diane Heath.

Sessions will be organized around the following themes:

  • Meeting 1: What is a Contemporary Psalm?
  • Meeting 2: Honoring Your Own Voice;
  • Meeting 3: Psalm 23 as a model;
  • Meeting 4: Bring Many Names;
  • Meeting 5: Nature;
  • Meeting 6: A Psalm for an Occasion.
