Stirring the Waters Presents: The Sum of Us book discussion
April 6, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Finding our way to the beloved community: A Lenten read of Heather McGhee’s The Sum of Us
Stirring the Waters and the Antiracism Task Force invite you to read The Sum of Us during Lent and then to join us on April 6th to talk about the books message of getting past zero sum thinking. The meeting will include small group discussions followed by a panel discussion featuring our service ministry leaders.
A little bit about the book:
“Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy… and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. The Sum of Us is a brilliant analysis of how we arrived here: divided, and self-destructing, materially rich but spiritually starved and vastly unequal. With startling empathy, this heartfelt message from a Black woman to a multiracial America leaves us with a new vision for a future in which we finally realize that life can be more than a zero-sum game.” From Amazon
