Sunday Forum: Go Solar
February 19, 2023 @ 10:15 am - 11:15 am
Are you itching to join the solar revolution and install solar panels on your home? Or maybe open to the possibility but not sure how to start? Perhaps you’re just curious and seeking more information. If any of these describe you, then you’ll want to attend a special event at St. Columba’s church (4201 Albemarle) on Sunday, Feb. 19, from 10:15-11. Sukrit Mishra, DC program director for the nonprofit group Solar United Neighbors (SUN), will present information on the basics of solar energy, how the technology works, and financing options. He will also discuss the solar co-op that DC SUN will be running later this summer. The co-op is free to join, and members are not obligated to buy anything, but co-op members get:
•a free review of your roof to see if solar panels will work for you;
•one-on-one support for all your questions about going solar; and
•an individualized proposal for buying solar equipment at a bulk rate.
There has never been a better time to go solar! SUN’s group buying power, combined with very generous tax incentives, make the financial aspects very agreeable right now, and SUN will guide you through the process every step of the way. This is a St. Columba’s Environment Committee-sponsored event but it’s definitely not just for St. Columbans — anyone interested in going solar is welcome to attend. Advance registration is helpful but not necessary. Please email [email protected] to let us know you’re coming!
