Holy Cross Fall Retreat 2019
Fri., Nov. 8 – Sun., Nov. 10, at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY
"Cultivating Silence For Our Souls"
A Weekend Prayer Retreat with Ledlie
Open to All: Limited Availability
The seeds of God’s love are planted deep in the soul of each one of us. It is God who gives life, yet in much the same way that a gardener tends to her garden – cultivating soil, watering, feeding, weeding, pruning – we too may help those seeds flourish.
Our two days at Holy Cross will include talks and guided meditation led by Ledlie with ample time for praying, walking, journaling, and napping. As guests of the monastery, we will join in the daily rhythm of the community’s worship and prayer, share meals with the brothers, and be free to enjoy the lovely grounds on the banks of the Hudson River.
Designed as an introduction for those with no prior experience of contemplative prayer or being on a silent retreat, there will be ample nourishment for the more seasoned “pray-ers” among us. The retreat will be led by our rector, the Rev. Ledlie Laughlin. Ledlie loves being in silence, especially at Holy Cross; he brings many years’ experience with contemplative prayer in both Christian and Buddhist practice.
Honor your own desire to draw nearer to God. Give yourself a gift of silence.
Join us for what promises to be a lovely fall weekend at Holy Cross Monastery, originally built in 1902 … for monks! You can expect to experience a mix of historical charm and contemporary comforts while experiencing centuries-old practices. This year's retreat will be led by Rector Ledlie Laughlin from Fri., Nov. 8 at 5 pm through Sun., Nov. 10 at 2 pm. Rooms are singles ($200 per person) or doubles ($280 per person), with three delicious meals each day. Ride-sharing possible. Final registration and payment due by Sept. 27.
