Dear St. Columbans,
I write with two position updates – one exciting, the other – bittersweet. Firstly, the exciting news!
It is my great pleasure to share that we have invited Aaron Childers to be our next Operations Manager. Aaron comes with plenty of operations experience in the hospitality industry, and knows the ins and outs of running a property efficiently. In his former life, Aaron worked on political campaigns and served in the Army. Aaron writes:
“Hello and thank you everyone for allowing me into the Saint Columba’s family. I am excited to get to work and even more excited to see all the recent updates to the Church facility come to fruition. Everyone has been very helpful and accommodating and I look forward to the day when I can remember everyone’s name!”
Please join me in welcoming Aaron!
And now for the less exciting news; our Director of Youth Ministries, Elliott May has taken a position at a church in Boston to be closer to family. We are so fortunate to have had Elliott guide the youth program through these turbulent pandemic waters. In his time here there were at least 4 different iterations of Sunday morning youth group first on zoom, then in person, on zoom again, then in person again, as well as so many attempts to bring people together in ways that felt fun and safe. Elliott did this all with his characteristic kindness and flexibility. We are so lucky to have had Elliott here and will miss him! Elliott writes:
“It’s hard for me to write this message, but I want to share a difficult update: later this summer, my family and I are going to be moving to Boston, which means transitioning out of St. Columba’s.
This isn’t about anything pertaining to St. Columba’s and I’m so sad to be leaving this incredible community. I feel so privileged to have been the youth director at St. C’s these last couple of years and to have walked with all of these amazing kids and parents. I wish that I could stay longer, but for a couple of reasons, my family needs to be in Boston in the days to come.
St. Columba’s is truly special, and I feel so grateful for this season with you all. I will miss this community; you all will remain close to my heart and in my prayers.”
Elliott’s last day will be July 17th. The youth council and I are meeting next week to figure out our next steps, so stay tuned!
Summer Blessings!
