Staff Transitions

From the Rector's Desk
The Rev. Amy Molina-Moore
Acting Rector, St. Columba's Episcopal Church, Washington, DC
June 24, 2022
Dear St. Columbans,

I write with two position updates – one exciting, the other – bittersweet. Firstly, the exciting news!

It is my great pleasure to share that we have invited Aaron Childers to be our next Operations Manager. Aaron comes with plenty of operations experience in the hospitality industry, and knows the ins and outs of running a property efficiently. In his former life, Aaron worked on political campaigns and served in the Army. Aaron writes:

"Hello and thank you everyone for allowing me into the Saint Columba’s family. I am excited to get to work and even more excited to see all the recent updates to the Church facility come to fruition. Everyone has been very helpful and accommodating and I look forward to the day when I can remember everyone's name!"

Please join me in welcoming Aaron!

And now for the less exciting news; our Director of Youth Ministries, Elliott May has taken a position at a church in Boston to be closer to family. We are so fortunate to have had Elliott guide the youth program through these turbulent pandemic waters. In his time here there were at least 4 different iterations of Sunday morning youth group first on zoom, then in person, on zoom again, then in person again, as well as so many attempts to bring people together in ways that felt fun and safe. Elliott did this all with his characteristic kindness and flexibility. We are so lucky to have had Elliott here and will miss him! Elliott writes:

“It's hard for me to write this message, but I want to share a difficult update: later this summer, my family and I are going to be moving to Boston, which means transitioning out of St. Columba’s.

This isn’t about anything pertaining to St. Columba’s and I’m so sad to be leaving this incredible community. I feel so privileged to have been the youth director at St. C’s these last couple of years and to have walked with all of these amazing kids and parents. I wish that I could stay longer, but for a couple of reasons, my family needs to be in Boston in the days to come.

St. Columba's is truly special, and I feel so grateful for this season with you all. I will miss this community; you all will remain close to my heart and in my prayers.”

Elliott’s last day will be July 17th. The youth council and I are meeting next week to figure out our next steps, so stay tuned!

Summer Blessings!
The Rev. Amy Molina-Moore

Lauren Devito

Director of Communications
202-363-4119 |

My career in design and marketing has provided a broad range of experience, starting at MTV and spanning a wide range of clients from Volkswagen, Infiniti, and Gerber to non-profits like Georgetown Hill Early Schools, and small businesses across the US. Originally from Staten Island, NY, I now live in Virginia with my children and partner, Steve.

In the Director of Communications role, I look forward to helping spread the message of love, peace, justice and inclusivity that encompasses the St. Columba’s spirit. Together, we will explore new ways to deepen our commitment as a community of faith. Strong relationships and authentic communication make St. Columba’s stronger as a whole, and I am here for you!

Amanda Fulton

The opposite of faith is not doubt, but certainty. ~ Anne Lamott

Joining a church doesn’t mean you don’t have big questions or doubts. Deciding to be part of a loving community of faith means you’re open to exploring and wrestling with those big questions and doubts. Most people here did not grow up in The Episcopal Church. Some have never been a member of any church. Many have a background in a different church or faith tradition. At St. Columba’s, there will be many opportunities to learn, ask questions, and get to know other pilgrims along the way. Our deepest hope is that everyone who steps through our doors knows they belong here.

Pledge Give Now Stock, IRA, Donor Advised & Planned Giving Member Log-in Easter Offering/ Thanksgivings & Memorials

A pledge is a promise - a promise to give a certain amount over the course of the following year. We don’t expect you to fulfill your pledge in one lump gift. Many find they can give more when pledging and then giving incrementally over the course of the year.

Pledging before the start of each calendar year is critical for clergy and staff to develop an annual budget and plan to serve you and our wider community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Give? God asks us to share our time, talent and treasure. A life of generosity is at the root of Christianity. The Bible encourages the tithe – or 10% of your annual income – and we encourage you to think about what a meaningful gift would be for you.

When you give to St. Columba’s you help fund our ministry in the community, our worship, and the staff that supports our community as we strive to Live God’s Love.

Our mission is funded by you – St. Columbans and other supporters.

Give Now

St. Columba’s is grateful for your generosity. We accepts gifts in the form of cash, checks, appreciated stocks, Charitable IRA Rollovers, Donor Advised Gifts, and matching gifts. If you would like to include us in your end-of-life charitable gift plans, we accept bequests, life income gifts, and gifts of special assets (real estate, closely held stock, life insurance).
