Clergy & Staff
Clergy
The clergy, also known as priests or pastors, help proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, through their words and actions. They love and serve the people with whom they work, caring for young and old, strong and weak, rich and poor. At St. Columba’s, they proclaim the love of God through his forgiveness to those who are penitent, they pronounce God’s blessing, and share in the administration of the Sacraments, as well as the other ministrations entrusted to them.
Ledlie Laughlin began his tenure as the rector of St. Columba’s in September 2015.
With twenty-five years of experience in parishes of all sorts, Ledlie brings to St. Columba’s an abiding, potent and infectious faith in Jesus Christ; an invitational and consensual style of leadership formed in strong relationships with others; an ability to lead and manage complex systems; a deep commitment to justice in our society; a gentle and wise pastoral sensibility; a conviction that The Episcopal Church is a vital and potentially vibrant expression of the grace of God and a fresh perspective.
Ledlie and his wife Sarah live nearby. They have two grown children, India and Nicholas. Before coming to St. Columba’s, Ledlie served for sixteen years as the Rector of St. Peter’s Church in Philadelphia. Ledlie received his BA with Honors from Oberlin College and his Master of Divinity degree from Yale University.
The Rev. Amy Molina-Moore joined the community at St. Columba’s as associate rector for formation and pastoral care in December of 2016. In December 2020, her role has transitioned to Associate Rector for Family Ministry. Prior to her arrival here, she was curate at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Wilmington, DE where she oversaw pastoral care and parish life. Amy is passionate about connecting people to God, creation and one another. Amy was an Americorp member based in East Harlem, NYC when she discerned a call to seminary. She began her studies at Princeton Theological Seminary in the fall of 2010. It was during those years that Amy found her home in the Episcopal Church and began to hear the Holy Spirit’s call to the priesthood. Amy brings a fresh perspective and an inquisitive mind to this ministry. She is committed to listening to the Holy Spirit’s leading and to perfecting the art of play. Amy received her BA with honors from Rutgers University, an M.Ed. from Lesley University, an M.Div from Princeton Theological Seminary and received her Diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary. Joshua Daniel joined St. Columba’s staff in March 2020 as Associate Rector for Discipleship and Worship. Joshua loves working in the Body of Christ, in all its strange and wonderful forms. He hopes to bring a sense of excitement about the possibilities of growing in faith, deepening in worship, and doing his small part to help make the kingdom of God a nearer reality in this corner of the world. Born and raised in Bentonville, AR, Joshua studied philosophy and theology at Greenville College, Oxford University, and graduated with a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Arkansas. During his time at the University, he taught philosophy, worked for an academic journal, and served as the Episcopal Chaplain, transforming a small college ministry into a vibrant and diverse community. Prior to his arrival at St. Columba’s, in his first call to ordained ministry, he led a spirit-filled congregation as Priest-in-Charge of a parish in the Mississippi Delta. Joshua, his wife Jenna, and their three children are thrilled to return to the DC area after graduating from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2018. While at VTS, Joshua co-edited "Reasonable Radical?" (Pickwick 2018) with the Dean and President of the seminary, the Very Rev. Dr. Ian Markham. Brooks is an Episcopal priest in the Diocese of Washington who serves as the school chaplain at St. Albans School for Boys. He received his BA in psychology from Skidmore College; his MDIV from Union Theological Seminary and his post-graduate diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary. At St. Albans, Brooks provides pastoral care to the community, teaches Bible and Philosophy of Religion courses in the high school division, is a member of the counseling staff and the Senior Administration, and oversees bi-weekly chapel services for students and faculty. Brooks is married to Courtney Hutchinson Hundley. They are the parents of a tenth grade boy, James, and an eighth grade girl, Caroline. In November 2017, the Rev. David Griswold was appointed by Bishop Marianne Budde to serve as deacon at St. Columba's. David previously served with us during his final year of preparation before ordination, and now continues in approximately one-third-time, non-stipendiary capacity.
David serves liturgically on Sundays, proclaiming the Gospel, preaching and preparing the table. He also leads Bible study most Sundays and supports our outreach, justice, formation and pastoral care ministries. David may also serve beyond our walls to advance the mission of the diocese. After coming to Washington in the 1980s to work as a congressional aide, he joined St. Margaret’s Church in DC and served as a lay leader for over 30 years, focusing especially on Christian education and community outreach. After earning a Master of Theological Studies at Wesley Seminary in 2012, David pursued Clinical Pastoral Education at Sibley Hospital. Granted Postulancy in 2014, he completed Deacons’ School training, which included an internship with Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington.
Katie Beaver is a 2nd year student at the Virginia Theological Seminary and a Postulant for Holy Orders in the Diocese of Maryland. She joined the community at St. Columba’s as a seminarian in September 2019. Katie was born and raised in Central Maryland and attended a small Episcopal parish where she is still a member. She studied Government at the College of William & Mary, and subsequently worked in international security analysis for a federal agency. After five years of service, she left to pursue her call to ministry and to serve the people of God. Outside of schoolwork, Katie serves as a coordinator for the intergenerational worship service at VTS and is a teaching assistant in Biblical Hebrew. To develop her passion for pastoral care and theological reflection, Katie spent the summer of 2019 as a chaplain intern for patients at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. The Rev. My career in design and marketing has provided a broad range of experience, starting at MTV and spanning a wide range of clients from Volkswagen, Infiniti, and Gerber to non-profits like Georgetown Hill Early Schools, and small businesses across the US. Originally from Staten Island, NY, I now live in Virginia with my children and partner, Steve. In the director of communications role, I look forward to helping spread the message of love, peace, justice and inclusivity that encompasses the St. Columba’s spirit. Together, we will explore new ways to deepen our commitment as a community of faith. Strong relationships and authentic communication make St. Columba’s stronger as a whole, and I am here for you! Previously a music teacher at the Nursery School, I have a daughter attending there now ... in the Dolphin class! As a local singer/songwriter, I create CDs for babies and toddlers and teach music classes through my company Meadowlark Music Lessons. I’ve loved music and education forever, starting as a middle school band, choral, and orchestra director in Chapel Hill, NC. I studied flute performance as an undergrad and music education in graduate school. I look forward to singing, sharing and having a beautiful Sunday morning experience with you all.
