Opportunities for Prayer and Meditation Abound!
With an energy that St. Columba's is well known for, several of our prayer ministries came back online after only a brief disruption, and some new ones blossomed forth in response to the current crisis.

First Monday Prayer Group

Participants use the African (Lambeth) prayer method–reading a pre-selected passage from scripture aloud, meditating in silence, and sharing how the passage touches our lives and what God calls us to do. Join us the first Monday of every month at 9 am via Zoom video conferencing. Contact Anne Murphy for call-in instructions.

Weekday Morning Prayer

Join Greg Drury Monday-Friday at 9:30 am via Zoom video conferencing. Contact Greg for call-in instructions.

Sunday Healing Prayer

St Columba’s Healing Rite (Laying on of Hands and Prayers for Healing) is offered at the 9:00 and 11:15 AM Sunday services during Communion the first Sunday of each month, in St. Aidan’s Chapel.

Monday Night Meditative Prayer and Reflection

Seeking more spiritual grounding and community during this time? Join others for Meditative Prayer and Reflection on Monday evenings, 6:30 pm via conference call in. All are welcome to participate in this gathering, a quiet mini retreat for mutual spiritual support. Contact Suzi Kindervatter for call-in instructions. (Note: This is an expansion of the regular Monday Night Centering Prayer group and open to everyone.)

Wednesday Bible & Book Study

Wednesday Bible & Book Study - 10:00am - with David Griswold. Always open to new or periodic participants. Contact the session leader for call-in instructions.

Thursday Morning Bible Study

Thursday Morning Bible Study meets weekly at 9 am via Zoom to read and discuss the upcoming Sunday lessons and Gospel in a fun, provocative, experiential Bible study. Contact Jon McBride for call-in instructions.

The Rev. Ledlie Laughlin

Rector
202-363-4119, EXT. 216 |

Ledlie Laughlin began his tenure as the rector of St. Columba’s in September 2015.

With twenty-five years of experience in parishes of all sorts, Ledlie brings to St. Columba’s an abiding, potent and infectious faith in Jesus Christ; an invitational and consensual style of leadership formed in strong relationships with others; an ability to lead and manage complex systems; a deep commitment to justice in our society; a gentle and wise pastoral sensibility; a conviction that The Episcopal Church is a vital and potentially vibrant expression of the grace of God and a fresh perspective.

Ledlie and his wife Sarah live nearby. They have two grown children, India and Nicholas. Before coming to St. Columba’s, Ledlie served for sixteen years as the Rector of St. Peter’s Church in Philadelphia. Ledlie received his BA with Honors from Oberlin College and his Master of Divinity degree from Yale University.

The Rev. Amy Molina-Moore

Associate Rector for Family Ministry
202-363-4119, EXT. 248 |

The Rev. Amy Molina-Moore joined the community at St. Columba’s as associate rector for formation and pastoral care in December of 2016. In December 2020, her role has transitioned to Associate Rector for Family Ministry. Prior to her arrival here, she was curate at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Wilmington, DE where she oversaw pastoral care and parish life. Amy is passionate about connecting people to God, creation and one another.

Amy was an Americorp member based in East Harlem, NYC when she discerned a call to seminary. She began her studies at Princeton Theological Seminary in the fall of 2010. It was during those years that Amy found her home in the Episcopal Church and began to hear the Holy Spirit’s call to the priesthood.

Amy brings a fresh perspective and an inquisitive mind to this ministry. She is committed to listening to the Holy Spirit’s leading and to perfecting the art of play. Amy received her BA with honors from Rutgers University, an M.Ed. from Lesley University, an M.Div from Princeton Theological Seminary and received her Diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary.

The Rev. Dr. Joshua Daniel

Associate Rector for Evangelism and Discipleship
479-426-2526 |

Joshua Daniel joined St. Columba’s staff in March 2020 as Associate Rector for Discipleship and Worship. Joshua loves working in the Body of Christ, in all its strange and wonderful forms. He hopes to bring a sense of excitement about the possibilities of growing in faith, deepening in worship, and doing his small part to help make the kingdom of God a nearer reality in this corner of the world.

Born and raised in Bentonville, AR, Joshua studied philosophy and theology at Greenville College, Oxford University, and graduated with a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Arkansas. During his time at the University, he taught philosophy, worked for an academic journal, and served as the Episcopal Chaplain, transforming a small college ministry into a vibrant and diverse community. Prior to his arrival at St. Columba’s, in his first call to ordained ministry, he led a spirit-filled congregation as Priest-in-Charge of a parish in the Mississippi Delta.

Joshua, his wife Jenna, and their three children are thrilled to return to the DC area after graduating from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2018. While at VTS, Joshua co-edited "Reasonable Radical?" (Pickwick 2018) with the Dean and President of the seminary, the Very Rev. Dr. Ian Markham.

The Rev. Susan Flanders

Priest Associate
202-363-4119, EXT. 215 |

The Rev. Brooks Hundley

Priest Associate
202-363-4119 |

Brooks is an Episcopal priest in the Diocese of Washington who serves as the school chaplain at St. Albans School for Boys. He received his BA in psychology from Skidmore College; his MDIV from Union Theological Seminary and his post-graduate diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary.

At St. Albans, Brooks provides pastoral care to the community, teaches Bible and Philosophy of Religion courses in the high school division, is a member of the counseling staff and the Senior Administration, and oversees bi-weekly chapel services for students and faculty. Brooks is married to Courtney Hutchinson Hundley. They are the parents of a tenth grade boy, James, and an eighth grade girl, Caroline.

The Rev. David Griswold

Deacon
202-363-4119, EXT. 217 |

In November 2017, the Rev. David Griswold was appointed by Bishop Marianne Budde to serve as deacon at St. Columba's. David previously served with us during his final year of preparation before ordination, and now continues in approximately one-third-time, non-stipendiary capacity.

David serves liturgically on Sundays, proclaiming the Gospel, preaching and preparing the table. He also leads Bible study most Sundays and supports our outreach, justice, formation and pastoral care ministries. David may also serve beyond our walls to advance the mission of the diocese. After coming to Washington in the 1980s to work as a congressional aide, he joined St. Margaret’s Church in DC and served as a lay leader for over 30 years, focusing especially on Christian education and community outreach. After earning a Master of Theological Studies at Wesley Seminary in 2012, David pursued Clinical Pastoral Education at Sibley Hospital. Granted Postulancy in 2014, he completed Deacons’ School training, which included an internship with Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington.

The opposite of faith is not doubt, but certainty. ~ Anne Lamott

Joining a church doesn’t mean you don’t have big questions or doubts. Deciding to be part of a loving community of faith means you’re open to exploring and wrestling with those big questions and doubts. Most people here did not grow up in The Episcopal Church. Some have never been a member of any church. Many have a background in a different church or faith tradition. At St. Columba’s, there will be many opportunities to learn, ask questions, and get to know other pilgrims along the way. Our deepest hope is that everyone who steps through our doors knows they belong here.

Pledge Give Now Stock, IRA, Donor Advised & Planned Giving Member Log-in Christmas Offering/ Thanksgivings & Memorials

A pledge is a promise - a promise to give a certain amount over the course of the following year. We don’t expect you to fulfill your pledge in one lump gift. Many find they can give more when pledging and then giving incrementally over the course of the year.

Pledging before the start of each calendar year is critical for clergy and staff to develop an annual budget and plan to serve you and our wider community.

Pledge Brochure & Video FAQs

Why Give? God asks us to share our time, talent and treasure. A life of generosity is at the root of Christianity. The Bible encourages the tithe – or 10% of your annual income – and we encourage you to think about what a meaningful gift would be for you.

When you give to St. Columba’s you help fund our ministry in the community, our worship, and the staff that supports our community as we strive to Live God’s Love.

Our mission is funded by you – St. Columbans and other supporters.

Give Now

St. Columba’s is grateful for your generosity. We accepts gifts in the form of cash, checks, appreciated stocks, Charitable IRA Rollovers, Donor Advised Gifts, and matching gifts. If you would like to include us in your end-of-life charitable gift plans, we accept bequests, life income gifts, and gifts of special assets (real estate, closely held stock, life insurance).
