According to the Capital Area Food Bank, 1 out of 10 residents in the DC metro region is food insecure and nearly one-third of them are children. Building a strong, local food ecosystem supports healthier neighborhoods, economic prosperity, and high-quality jobs in the District of Columbia, especially in communities that have experienced systematic underinvestment, poor health outcomes, and limited economic opportunities. During this forum we will hear from community organizations committed to building an equitable food economy in the DC region.
