Thank you all who supported Rebuilding Together!
During nearly 24 hours of work split between Saturday, April 22 and Saturday, April 29, 51 St. Columbans + Friends of St. Columbans worked at Ms Butler’s home to make the improvements listed below. Check out some before and after photos and some of the faces at work in the attached photos.
Thank you all for for bringing your skills and patience and positive attitudes to this project! We are so grateful for ALL of your efforts, but wanted to call out a few people:
- David Griswold and Joshua Daniel for leading us all in prayer at the start of each day.
- Melissa McPherson, Kelly Crabtree, and Kristin McNavage for shopping at Lowes on each Saturday which included deciphering lists made on the fly and interpreting descriptions over the phone.
- Charlotte Dean for enthusiastically cleaning any room assigned.
- Matthew Huggins, John Anderson, Melissa McPherson, Robert Lange, and Mike LaRue for working all day BOTH Saturdays.
- Gardell Gefke for not only working all day both Saturdays this year but EVERY year for the past MANY years!

– Painted iron railings, gates, and window bars
– Installed new lock on gate & fixed gate so it would close
– Replaced wobbly railing to sidewalk
– Covered black plastic porch wrap
– Filled and covered holes in outer walls
– Cleaned off front porch
– Cleaned out basement well
KITCHEN
– Installed new lower cabinets
– Installed new countertop
– Installed new sink, faucet, and garbage disposal
– Covered hole in floor and reinforced floor
– Installed new ceiling fan and light
– Repaired cracked, peeling ceiling
SECOND FLOOR
– Tightened “half wall” at top of stairs
– Fixed bedroom door so it would close and latch
BASEMENT BATHROOM
– Installed new bathtub faucet
– Installed new shower curtain
BASEMENT
– Installed new door to the utility room
DINING ROOM
– Repaired cracked, peeling ceiling
FRONT HALLWAY
– Repaired drywall and cracked, peeling walls
– Painted walls and trim
– Replaced wobbly banister
WHOLE HOUSE
– Replaced outlets
– Replaced light bulbs
– Installed smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors
– De-cluttered and cleaned (including hauling old hot water heater and old fish tank out of house)
